Supporting the community with opportunity

Mokedo was a gallery & creative event space that I opened and ran from 2016-2018. But she is also much more than just a art space.
Mokedo was a safe haven for sound lovers and light makers.
Mokedo spread happiness in bulk through light, sound and allowing the community around these arts to flourish in a safe environment.
Mokedo was a special and unique space that closed due to the landlord wanting to sell the loft space.
RIP Mokedo. You were loved by so many!

Since opening the doors in Oct 2016 Mokedo was been able to support more than 200 artists through events, workshops, festivals, and art shows. Many of these art forms, like light art and ambient or noise from live modulars, are not regularly accessible to the general public and lack avenues to showcase their work. Mokedo provided opportunities for these unique artists show their work, share their knowledge and connect with their community through exhibits, workshops, meet ups, and other networking events.
Mokedo sourced teachers from the community and it's peer based skill share model provided a relaxed atmosphere and the opportunity for artists to share their knowledge in a safe space.
I lost count of how many events happened at Mokedo, but some weeks there were 4-5 events and there was an almost event every weekend for the entire two years it was open.

The artists list provided below is not a complete list of all the artists supported, but shows the vast amount and range of artists I was able to support with my gallery space.  Many of these events were intimate gatherings that allowed the artists to connect more directly with the audience and visa vera.
I was incredibly lucky to have had such a talented roster of artists flow through Mokedo, and it couldn't have been done without some of the amazing guest curators in Seattle such as Secondnature, Modular On the Spot, Sweatbox, Isis Women's Arts, Grounded, Shameless Productions, and many others. Thank you!
